First post - Hi There!
Using a tracing layer as a reference, does Krita allow you to paint on the next layer up using the colors from below in the tracing layer? Another art program does support this feature and it can be really handy. Sometimes, when I am blocking in a painting, I will use the colors from the tracing image as my guideline base colors instead of messing with pallets. Thanks for your replies! ![]() |

I think the "overlay" option in the color smudge brush is what you are looking for: https://docs.krita.org/Color_Smudge#Overlay
Other than that, the color picking action tied to Ctrl+click by default samples the sum of all layers. |

Excellent TheraHedwig!
It does not operate the same as the other software I am coming from, and it may not be as easy to use but there is a sort-of workaround in Krita. The other software I use allows you to set a tracing image for the painting, and you can, with one keystroke turn color selecting on and off. It allows the current brush to use the tracing's color where the brush starts to paint. This is a really great feature. If you have more questions about this and how it works I can send you some screen prints of how it works. Thank you! |
