hello,
i've come from photoshop to krita, i really LOVE krita!! however, i cannot seem to save in psd files as i do need to transfer them back over to psd in order to save it to work with after effects / duik in order for rigging. i now use Krita version 4.0.0 i keep getting the same error: Could not save C:/Users/name/Desktop/name.psd Reason: it does not even specify the reason so i am totally clueless. if anyone could help me with this problem i would be very gratefull! ![]() |

In my case, I can save 8 and 16-bit integer files but I can't save 16/32-bit float color depth documents.
Not sure if it's a limitation or a bug... (Ubuntu 14.04 - Krita version: 4.1.0-pre-alpha (git d3f5e19)) |

Can you create a simple new image in Krita with just a couple of brushstrokes on a paint layer and save that as a .psd file?
Is there anything 'advanced' about the images you work with, such as filter layers or transform layers, groups, ..... etc? |

hi hi,
i been messing around with the settings, and apparently i could not save it because it was 16-bit floater, all my layers where merged before i changed my settings, as i did see on the internet that it doesn't save FX and masks and all that. so my solution that i found a bit earlier was to put it on 32-floater and that does want to save to psd now, as long as all my image layers are too. (meaning u have to convert it to 32-floater through image settings if you started with the new workpaper on a different setting) i thank you all for replying! and i hope this thread also will help someone else in the future! ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Krita 4 definitely should have warned about that, and in fact, it does warn when I try that here.

Okay, Krita did warn, but it also said it would convert the image on export, and didn't do that. https://commits.kde.org/krita/1baf0f9cc ... 88efc575e4 fixes that; but note that if there are warnings in the export dialog, those should be read. Right now, if you'd work in 16 bits float or 32 bits float, your image will be converted to 16 bits integer on saving. Always work in .kra, and only save to another format when you need to!

hi hi,
yes it does give a warning, but somehow does not convert, it worked earlier today somehow yet now i strated a new file with the 32-bit float it doesn't want to save even if i convert to any other type of file (i tried all file types now) and it still gives me the same error >_< hnnggghh... i really wish .kra was compatible in other programs. like mentioned before, i really LOVE krita, just wish the convertion was easier ![]() |

Yeah, I implemented conversion this morning, so that's not in the builds yet. But why, if your target is interaction with photoshop, are you using 32 bits floating point? As far as I know, psd doesn't support that in any case.

hi hi,
i have tried every other option as well, even those do not work ![]() |

Are you really sure you need 32 bits _floating_ point? That has never been possible to save as PSD. Aren't you confusing 8 bits/channel which some people also call 32 bits images with this format, which is only used by VFX studios for movies?
Btw, "the they" you're talking about is me. |
