To reproduce the error follow these steps:
- I loaded an *.jpg image into Krita (under Windows) - I selected a rectangle area with the Rectangle Tool - I clicked on "Move Tool" and moved the selected area - I cliicked on "Undo" arrow icon in the toolbar (or submenu Edit--->Undo Select Rectangle ...Nothing happened! Why does the menu Edit--->Undo show "Select Rectangle" and not "move"? Is a "Move" operation nor undoable? Whats wrong? By the way: How man undo steps should "undo" normally offer? How can I increase the number of steps? |

Hi,
Yes, it's a bug: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=392014.
Look here: (main menu >) "Settings" > "Configure Krita..." > "General" > "Miscellaneous" > "Undo stack size:". (Tested with "Krita 4.1.0-pre-alpha (git dac4dc7)" on "Ubuntu 14.04 LTS, Unity") |

If you move a selection then the move is not 'registered' in the history until you select a different tool from the toolbox. Then you can undo it.
The 'logic' behind this seems to be that a move may easily be followed by another move as the user makes fine adjustments to the movement. The only way that Krita knows if the user has finished moving the selection is if another tool is selected. Then it registers the overall movement as a single action in the history. There are various arguments for and against this and suggestions for ways around the confusion. Personally, I've simply got used to it and accept the situation. The Undo and Redo history lists have their own presentation problems, covered by a bug report, but the Undo and Redo actions always work correctly. |
