I have some extra brushes installed after downloading Krita 4.0.3. Unfortunately with a big mistake. Too many tags have been created, many of them empty. How can I delete the errors without, and retain the correct ones?

You can try go to settings-->manage resources-->open resource folder and then go to 'tags', there open kis_brushes_tags.xml
There, remove all sections that looks something like this:
Save and restart Krita. |

Unfortunately, the file is in XML format. I have no idea how to delete these lines.

You need to open the file with a text editor, is likely that if you just click on it, it will be open with a browser and show the text in a "read only" format. I'm not sure the names for text only editors for windows (I don't use the system), I remember last week read notepad++ is one of them. Once you open it as a editable text, just remove what TheraHedwig mentioned. (where "dummy" is your extra unneeded tags)

Simple way: Rename it as a .txt file then double-click it to edit it with your usual text editor. When you've finished, rename it back to being a .xml file.

I changed the file from XML to TXT. The dummies deleted, but at Krita in the ad are still all in it. What do I do now?

After you'd deleted the 'dummies', did you rename the file from .txt to .xml to put it back to normal?

You can check directly on these folders to make sure you don't have more than one xml file of the same, also will be better if you edit the file while Krita is closed (accessing the directory manually, since now you know where is located). Check this two places: https://docs.krita.org/en/KritaFAQ.html ... ces-stored It may be that the corrupted xml is not the user's but Krita's, thus make sure you check both.

In the kis_brushes_tags.xml file, can you see any line (or section) that contains the name of the brush tags that you want to remove?
In your original post, the screenshot shows a list of brushes, apparently in the list of brush tags. I'm very puzzled as to how this situation happened. |

Sorry to come back with the problem. But so far I could not solve it. I hope there is one more solution to erase these Tumph tags. If maybe a developer from the Krita team would take a look at this, I'd be glad. Somewhere these tags have to be stored if they keep coming back.
