Hello All,
This is my first post and I am new to Krita as of two days ago. So far, everything is really great. I was sketching my outline and erasing it and fixing it and everything was fine. So my rough sketch is done. I then add a new layer for background underneath the sketch and I see that surrounding some parts of my pencil strokes is white (and not the white from my first layer). It looks like the result of my erasing but I'm not sure what went wrong with the eraser. I think the erase button on the top bar has something to do with it but now I'd like to remove that white from my sketch. Is there a way to remove background within one layer leaving only my pencil strokes? Thanks! |

The erase button on the top bar turns whatever brush preset you're using into an eraser, with the characteristics and texure of that brush preset. However, if you're sketching on a transparent paint layer then it will (should) replace your sketch lines with transparency, or make your sketch lines less opaque and then transparent with further application.
Can you flood fill the new layer for background with dark blue (or similar colour) to give contrast to highlight this effect and post a full .png screenshot (using imgur or a similar service)? It would be useful to show the layers docker and brush preset docker in this. Can you also say which OS and which version of Krita you're using and which brush preset you used for the sketching/erasing? Do you have any blending modes in operation or anything 'unusual' at all? P.S. I'm assuming that you accidentally clicked the 'Solved' button and still have the problem ![]() |

Greybeard,
Thanks for responding! I think I might just trace my original sketch onto a new layer. It might be the cleanest way to remove the random white. Thanks again ![]() |
