Hello everyone, Sorry to trouble you but I can't seem to find a method for deleting unused embedded layer styles in my images.
Is there some kind of style manager somewhere ? I'm afraid I couldn't find one, or any documentation about one. Or failing that, is there a way of editing the .asl file in the .kra save file (opening it with a text editor doesn't work unfortunately) ?

I can confirm for the UI dialog. Maybe you already know that you can manually delete them by going to the folder: /.share/krita/asl/. they are binary files, not editable with regular text editors I guess.
I couldn't find /.share/krita/asl on windows 8.1 but perhaps you were making a reference to the folder that you can access through the Settings -> Manage Resources... -> Open Resource Folder ? On my computer the path is AppData/Roaming/Krita/asl - that was where I found a customStyles.asl that I inadvertently created as I was fiddling around... is that what you meant ?
The embedded styles for the image are in the .kra save file itself, as far as I can tell. If I delete image/annotations/layerstyles.asl it kind of breaks all the embedded layer styles until I save/re-open, but that sounds logical as I'm pretty sure that's where they're kept ^^
But maybe I'm just understanding this all wrong - does every layer have a style associated with it, even if it's not used? It does seem that I can can share the same style between several layers, which made me think that I could get rid of the unused ones... but it's possible I'm misconceiving how layer styles work internally.
edit : just realised the .kra file structure depends on the image title ^^'
