For some reason for about the past week or so whenever I try to save something in Krita it goes through the process but right after the blue bar on the bottom fills up an error message pops up and says "Krita cannot save [insert file name] Reason: " And there is no reason that it states. It just doesn't save. It's so annoying, at some points it juts savs and then literally 2 seconds later it won't save. I've tried doing save as instead of saving, I've tried saving it to different places and it still doesn't work. I've even downloaded an older version of Krita 4.1.0 instead of 4.1.1 but it still didn't work. I once almost found a solution because someone on youtube said it may be from an antivirus program viewing krita as an unauthorized program. I tried some stuff with that and I started painting with it and it was saving like normal without a problem. But low and behold a few hours later the same error message started up again. I honestly don't know what to do at this point. Krita has worked for 2 years for me now and this is out of nowhere.

If the message is “File not found. Check the file name and try again.”, you probably have Controlled Folder Access enabled.
Select Start > Settings . Choose Update & security > Windows Defender. Select Open Windows Defender Security Center. Select Virus & threat protection, and then choose Virus & threat protection settings. Under Controlled folder access, turn it on or off. Also check https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/window ... ed-folders |

Could you try to save somewhere that's not a google drive/onedrive/dropbox folder? That bug should have been fixed in 4.1.1, but we've had reports that it's still a problem.

So I tried saving out of the google drive folder a few times and it worked. So I deleted the 4.1.0 version and downloaded the lastest but the glitch is not fixed it still won't save my document if I try and save it in a google drive folder. Is there anything I can do to fix that. I like being able to get my work on different devices in case the one i'm using ever breaks or something

You'll have to copy it over using Explorer. We don't know why some people suffer from this problem and others not (I can work in my dropbox folder without problems...), but the problem is not in our code. It's either something that changed in the way windows works with synchronized folders, or something that broke the way the development platform Qt implemented safe saving.
We've tried to patch Qt with possible fixes, and that worked for us and the people who originally reported the problem, but apparently not for everyone. |
