i had installed an older version of krita on my computer and recently decided to update it so that i could animate. i updated it to the latest version but all it did was change the icons for the tools. i don't have screenshots ( idon't know how to take them) but nothing to do with animation had been added to my krita. not even the dockers. i followed all the intructions on the website and installed everything i should need. i'm using ubuntu 14.04

I'm sorry, but you will really have to be more explicit. Just telling us you did everything doesn't tell us what you actually did. Which, exact, version of Krita are you using? See Help->About Krita.
