Hello everyone,
New here, so of course it's because I've hit a snag! Recently experienced a crash with Krita, and when starting the program up again, I've found that the 'ant' lines to display a selection are no longer visible. Same with the other display mode (that I just found out about today). And yes, I have made sure "display selection" is checked. The selections themselves are there though, if I create one and paint inside it shows that it is there. This could possibly be workable, however if I go to copy that selection and paste it onto another image (I do this a lot) the selection disappears entirely if I use the selection alteration tool to move it around or adjust the size. I'm only able to see where it is buy looking for the cursor to change if I scroll over it. Now, I've tried resetting everything to the best of my knowledge, and have uninstalled and reinstalled twice, but with no luck. Any help or point in the right direction is appreciated, or even a way to install a completely fresh 'out of the box' version would be nice. |

"... I've tried resetting everything to the best of my knowledge, ..."
Have you deleted the kritarc file in the krita configuration storage folder? https://docs.krita.org/en/KritaFAQ.html ... figuration This will reset all settings to the freshly installed defaults. (Note that uninstalling/reinstalling krita will not change any configurations or settings that you may have previously made. These are stored in a separate area as explained in the link above.) |

On one of my reinstalls I did try going through and deleting appdata files, though that said it's totally possible I missed it (I'm godawful when it comes to computers. I'm really just a guy who draws cartoons).
I'm having a devil of a time finding the kritarc file, so if you or someone would be kind enough to brush me up on how to get there, I'd much appreciate it. Windows 10 btw, and it should be the latest Krita version. Update: Ok, found and deleted the kritarc file and it seems to have not fixed the problem. The ant line or any other way of displaying selections won't show up. Any other ideas are welcome. Appreciate the help given so far though. |

For anyone else who may be reading, I've actually found a Reddit post from last year with the exact problem I'm having! It was never addressed, but hopefully it can ring a few bells since apparently I'm not the only one who has experienced this:

Well, after shutting off my PC for a bit in despair I came back to it so I could try to do whatever artwork I could. I made a simple change to the theme in Krita so I could make one last delete of kritarc just to see if it worked.
Well it seemed to change that at least, so I opened up some lineart to work on to find the selection tools and transform tool was back as it should be! ![]() Thank you kind sage for the assistance, discovering Krita has been one of the best finds I've had recently so I'm glad it's working as intended. Cheers everyone, I'll be sure to pop in a bit more often! |
