Hi, my friend has drawn something in Krita and we can't find a way to export it the way I need for laser engraving. I need to export the curves(.dxf, .svg, .ai etc.), not and image(.jpg, .png, .bmp etc.), but I can't find a way to export the paint layer as something that I can use. I can't even convert the paint layer to vector. Is there a way around this?

I'm not 100% sure, but I don't think Krita can export a whole document to SVG, (I know you can do on per layer basis only if the layer is a svg type), if you save the image to png, (specially if it has transparency) you can then use Inkscape to trace the bitmap and then save it to svg, and there are other apps for these, I just mention Inkscape since is easy to use and also FOSS. Now depending on how complex the image is, results may not be desirable, and only manual tracing over the image with svg tools may be your only solution.

As a note for future reference, if svg or similar formats are going to be the desired final product, would be better to work on a svg editor/layer instead. :)

If you want to produce diagram type drawings with .dxf output files, the QCAD Community Edition is free.
