Sorry if this is a dumb question. I've been googling and searching youtube for the past 45 minutes, as well as reading through the Krita manual, and I can't find the answer I need.
I have familiarized myself with the difference between filter masks and filter layers. However, I cannot for the life of me find where in the interface I actually add a filter layer. I can add filter MASKS, but I cannot find any references to filter LAYERS anywhere in the UI. The krita online manual references adding filter layers, but never says how to actually do that. Everything I find by searching talks either about filter masks, or layers in general, or filters in general, and I can't seem to narrow it down to adding a filter layer. Yes, I've used exact quote searching. Please point me in the right direction? I feel like this should be simple... For reference, I am using Krita 4.1.1 64bit on Windows 10. Thank you! |

At the bottom of the Layers docker, on the left side, is a small '+' icon which adds a paint layer above the currently selected layer. Next to this '+' icon is a small down-pointing triangle which will open up a list of all possible types of additions to the layer stack. Among these are the Filter Layer and Filter Mask.
It may be that you've been using right-click -> Add, on a layer, to get a list of things to add, which for some reason does not have the full set of all possible types. |

Ah hah! I knew it would be something weird like that. I must have somehow missed that. Thank you very much!
