How do I turn off the "magnetism" of the paintbrush tool?
Whenever I draw a line, and then another near it, at least at 50 pixels away the line abruptly just magnetizes to the previous line and does not follow my stroke at all. It is making Krita borderline unusuable for me. Is this a setting within Krita or my hardware? |

I'm not sure about the problem you're facing, is the "Tool Options" docker > "Snap to Assistant" checkbox selected?

It's not checked. There isn't any "snapping", but the brush just sort of attracts itself to adjacent lines on the same or other layers during a stroke and I'm unsure why.

As far as I know, none of the 'Snap To' options would give that sort of behaviour but can you just check in View -> Snap To, that none of the boxes are checked?
Is this a fresh installation that you haven't made any configuration changes to? What operating system and which version of krita are you using? |

I bought this off of the Microsoft store last year and as far as I know it is up to date. That was after using the free version for a year or so.
I'm using Windows 10, and I'm not sure if there are "versions" of that. I'm also not sure if this is a problem with my hardware or if it's the software. |

I think that the version from the Microsoft store is an updating version. If you do Help -> About Krita, it will show you the version number on the popup window, the latest version is 4.1.5.
It sounds like you've been using krita for about two years so I assume it hasn't been as you describe, with the 'magnetised' paintbrush, for all that time. When did this behaviour start? Can this behavior be linked to any changes you made, such as installing any other software or hardware? I also assume that you're using a tablet/stylus so which one are you using and do you get the same problem if you paint with the mouse instead? Windows 10 updates have been known to badly affect tablet drivers (especially Wacom drivers). Have you tried reinstalling your tablet driver, using the latest version? Can you try asking/telling Windows 10 to check for updates and install any that are available (in case the latest updates fix a problem caused by previous updates). In the online manual, it may be useful to read this section in case there is any information or advice thats's applicable to you: https://docs.krita.org/en/user_manual/d ... n-go-wrong |

I reinstalled my drivers. When I first started Krita I got some insanely blocky lines. Restarting it seemed to solve the issue.
I think the issue here is that my Huion tablet is imprecise. Even when I draw straight lines I get rough wavy lines, but the faster I swipe the pen, the straighter the line. I was wondering if this was a Krita issue or a hardware issue and after troubleshooting, it seems more like a hardware issue. |
