This is really a GIMP issue I suppose, but anyone using both Krita and Gimp might get angry at Krita by mistake.
I'm using version Krita 4.1.7 on Windows 8.1 and the latest Gimp 2.10.8. I can copy from Krita and paste into both Corel Painter and Irfanview, but Gimp 2.10.8 (and an earlier version I had) thinks there is nothing on the clipboard. Is Krita using some weird clipboard data format that some applications have problems with? |

Hmm, it works for me on Linux. I c&p'ed a paint layer, and also even a text layer. So this seems to be a Windows issue?

Could be. I was using copy from the Edit menu rather than the Copy Layer on the layer context menu (although gimp doesn't recognise that either). |

As noted by rbreu, copy/paste between krita and GIMP works fine under Linux. However, I've just tried it on Windows 10 with krita 4.1.5 and it does not work. This was with Copy Layer and also Edit-> Copy on a selection in krita.
Could you raise a bug report at: https://bugs.kde.org/ giving exact details of what you tried to do and what (didn't) happen. Note: It may be a GIMP problem but a formal report would be useful. Also, I'm surprised that this hasn't been noticed before if it's a general problem. |
