Almost every time I lift the pen from the tablet past the range of the tablet detecting the pen, the cursor will freeze in place and will not let me draw until hover the pen over the program's UI.
The program still works fine, but this bug makes it practically unusable. After almost every stroke that the pen goes out of the range of the tablet's detection, the cursor will not detect the location of the pen when it enters the range of the tablet again unless it's over the User Interface. This makes it to where once the cursor freezes in place, I can't draw a single line or make a single adjustment until I hover my pen over the UI, and that unfreezes the cursor and allows me to draw again until it freezes once again. This only happens in Krita and never in any other drawing program. However, I have yet to find an art program that I like as much as Krita, so I would prefer to have this issue fixed so I don't have to begin my search for another art program. The tablet I'm using is a Huion Kamvas GT-191, but that shouldn't be the issue since Krita is the only program in which the issue occurs. Here is a video recording of the issue. Let me know if the video is not accessible for any reason. https://drive.google.com/open?id=1eXrDF ... KaqZcIUQnp |

Hi evan,
- which version of Krita are you using? - Is it a dual-monitors setup? If so, does it happens when using Krita on the "main" monitor? - See also: https://www.reddit.com/r/krita/comments ... h=6fb45b01 |

+1 on this issue. I've just installed latest download on Win10 with Huion 610ProV2. I get the same problem. As soon as the pen leaves the hover range, Krita loses the ability to track the pen until I hover some where over the Windows task bar. So I have to hover over task bar, bring the cursor over the canvas without leaving the hover range, then I can paint until I lift the stylus out of hover range again. Only seems to happen in Krita. Have not tried the Krita UI area to re-establish tracking, but will do tomorrow.

Yes... We're getting quite a few reports like this in the past couple of days. And that makes it sounds like Huion updated its drivers, because sure as heck, we didn't update any tablet code in the Windows version of Krita. And no, "it only seems to break with Krita" is utterly irrelevant. It don't mean a thing. Windows tablet driver coders usually only test with Photoshop and maybe one other application, usually don't code to specifications -- and so often do break one or another application. Hi everyone.
I am a newbie for Krita. I have the same issue with pen cursor freezing. I use Huion HS 610. Just curious, has this issue been resolved or had there been a workaround. This issue happens randomly though. Sometimes occasionally and sometime very often. After a while it fixes itself and freezes again. This happens randomly. So just wondering it has something to do with some background process that is interfering. Thanks and wishes for the Krita developers for the great work. I am already sold off with Krita. Cheers S |

Also having this issue, I believe I have the Deco 01 from XP-PEN. It is fairly consistent for me, but a couple of times when I tab in (view only the canvas), it has worked as intended. I can flick to the UI and back with my pen, but the issue is really annoying and I prefer Krita over other programs. Same as the person above, I'd like to know if a solution or workaround has been discovered. Thanks in advance!

No, other than resetting the driver settings and reinstalling the tablet driver, we never found a solution.

Hi, 2021 here lol
After some testing I was able to find out that this bug only happens when HuionTablet software is running and if you close (quit) it, the pen works fine on Krita, you can get in and out range and the cursor will just follow the pen normally. I've moved to windows so I could configure the pen/tablet easily, but now there's this bug :/ Tablet: Huion HS611 I hope all of you are safe and healthy, if I find a definitive solution I'll post here .-. # edit 1 When game mode is enabled in 'HuionTablet->Digital Pen' settings, Krita is able to recognize pen signals when it gets back to range in canvas. Cons: There's no pressure sensitivity when game mode is enabled. # edit 2 I was able to get pressure sensitivity back after disabling game mode option, then closing and reopening Krita. How I tested: 1. Boot Windows with no HuionTablet software initialization. 2. Open Krita and check if pen is working normally (it was working ok). 3. Open HuionTablet to check if the problem happens (now it happens). 4. Enable game mode on HuionTablet (now the problem doesn't happen but we have no pressure sensitivity). 5. Disable game mode on HuionTablet (the problem doesn't happen but we still have no pressure sensitivity on the running Krita). 6. Close and reopen Krita (the problem doesn't happen and we have pressure sensitivity ). I'll try steps 1,4,5 in order to check if we can reduce the number of steps to "solve" the problem. # edit 3 It worked! Steps 1,4,5 solves the problem for a session (you will need to do this again if you reboot windows). PS.: if you do it with an open Krita session, you'll need to close and reopen it because Krita won't be able to recognize pressure as stated in the last edit test. Unfortunately this is only a palliative, not a solution, as we need to do it for every boot session. I think this is a nice hint to the developers , something changes when game mode is enabled and then disabled in HuionTablet software, something is set on but not off again when it gets disabled... weird behavior. TL;DR: Enable and disable game mode on 'HuionTabler->Digital Pen' before opening Krita for the first time after booting windows. |

From 2021 here too 3/31/21
Replying to tysm, I tried to follow the steps they did. I didn't see a 'game mode' on my tablet driver, but I disabled / unchecked "Enable Touch" on the Press Keys options, and it seems - at least for now - to have fixed the issue without having to restart. (Huion Kamvas Pro 13 specifically). Hopefully this will help and work for others! |
