(I HAVE been working with Krita for a bit, but the whole 'animation' part of the program confuses me)

I have been scouring the internet, trying my best to get the onion skin to function. The lightbulb is clicked(the icon looks like a lightbulb lit up), The background is transparent, and I have the Animation workplace on. No matter what I do, though, it doesn't want to work, and instead doesn't let me make a new frame(what i mean is, it only gives me an option to make a blank frame or duplicate frame) besides the first frame. I don't understand how this isn't working, as I've seen multiple people talking about the dysfunctional onion skin, and it doesn't seem to work when I try to replicate what they're doing.

Animation and onion skins does confuse people when they first start animating in krita. It confused me but it does work and it's not too difficult to learn.
