Krita suddenly closed on me and didn't ask me to save anything. Now I'm afraid of re-opening my last save file in fear it might "overwrite" any automatically saved backup with my changes. Can anyone help?

If you saved your image before, it will in the same directory. If not, it will be a hidden file in your home directory.
