So I've been trying and trying all day to get this to work and do all the steps I've found to enable this, but onion skins still don't work for me when animating. Like they simply don't show up. Any help would be appreciated.

It would be useful if you give a link to a full screeshot of krita showing the Layers docker and the Timeline docker while you are having problems. Also, which OS and which version of krita are you using?
As a quick point, you must draw your animation artwork on a transparent layer, not the background layer or a layer that is filled with paint. Many people have difficulty with the onion skins at first and this is due to basic misunderstandings about how they work. Please read the following posts to see if they contain any information that can help you with this. viewtopic.php?f=139&t=153070 viewtopic.php?f=139&t=156597 viewtopic.php?f=139&t=155362 viewtopic.php?f=139&t=152998 Also, do reply to let us know if you get them working or if you still have problems so that your situation can be checked in more detail. |

I'm using Krita Version 4.1.7 64-Bit on Windows 10 Pro.
Also here are the two screenshots: - https://www.mediafire.com/view/07vzibcz ... 1.PNG/file - https://www.mediafire.com/view/fja4tj4a ... 2.PNG/file (Yes I know no one likes media fire but its the quickest thing I had) (UPDATE) I don't know what I did, but on the first frame Only, I see the onion skin. Literally no idea why. - https://www.mediafire.com/view/0s8ytay1 ... 3.PNG/file |

In 1.png and 2.png, you seem to have an animated layer that is fully covered in white paint except for a short thick blue line, which I assume is your animated character. You won't see onion skins unless you draw the animated character on a transparent layer, i.e. a layer that is transparent except for your drawn character.
For 3.png, you seem to have the animated layer with frame-0 as transparent except for your character, which is fine, and you're at frame-0 which means you should see green onion skins for frame-1 and frame-2. Your layer-1 is white non animated (i.e it should form a white background) but there is a pale green background to the entire image. I think your next frames have a solid white wash and so the onion skin is showing a solid pale green to indicate a massive and total difference between frame-0 and frame-1 and frame-2. Your animated character has changed from being a short blue line to being a large white rectangle (with a short blue line on it) so the onion skin is showing this difference. You need to draw your animated characters on transparent layers and use the fixed layer-1 to provide background colour/scene. |
