Hello! First I want to say thanks to the developers for an amazing application. Krita has revolutionized my digital workflow for rendering in my theatrical design work. This semester I have been teaching Krita to my drawing and rendering II class. This week we spent one class on the topic of vectors and used Inkscape to create a simple silhouette of a lighting instrument.
When I use these vector assets for rendering on my Linux machines I have always been able to simply copy and paste an object from Inkscape over to a vector layer in Krita. However, when I got to this point in my demo not a single one of my students who are either on mac or windows was able to paste the .svg object into Krita. I am familiar with the vector symbols library docker in Krita and I think it is an amazingly powerful tool. I use it all the time. However for the sake of this demo I did not wish to try to walk my students through creating symbols libraries and adding them to the resources folder. Is this a known bug? Is there some simple workaround? Is there no other official way of importing a vector into Krita? Thanks! |

This is a problem on Windows (and macOS, it seems). viewtopic.php?f=139&t=151766&p=400852&hilit=.svg#p400852
If you export from Inkscape to a .svg file and then open the .svg file in krita, you can then copy/paste the vector objects to another open krita image vector layer. You have to Ungroup the opened .svg contents in krita before you can select individial objects. Also, there is a scaling difference which is easy enough to deal with by scaling to the correct/desired size. |
