Hello Krita team,
First of all, thank you for this most recent update. It is beginning to be usable when working on large canvases, more than ever before. Although there is still room for improvement in performance with very big canvases (10,000 pixels, as an example. I work with 15,000 x 8437 pixel dimensions... giant canvases.) I'm writing to share about a problem - when color picking on large canvases, with Krita 4.1.7. When using "Ctrl" key to quickly pick color, there is a visible lag of 1-3 seconds, for the color to update. (You can see it lag, and finally catch up, in the floating color swatches.) This, of course, causes the painting process to slow down to a crawl. This problem doesn't happen when using the color picker tool shortcut "P", at all. Not even on giant canvases. But switching to the tool shortcut increases working time, since you have to click twice - from brush to picker, and then back to brush again. The "Ctrl" shortcut ideally would save this time. But it lags 1-3 seconds. Not sure if this is more of a bug report, but just wanted to share this. Maybe "Ctrl" could be optimized to update color as quickly as "P" for a future release of Krita? Thank you for viewing this issue, and for sharing this amazing program! |

I get this with large multi-layer images if Instant Preview is turned on and I quickly pick a colour then paint a stroke then pick another colour, etc. If I turn Instant Preview off then colour picking is immediate but there is then brush lag especially with large brushes and long brushstrokes.
I think that the 'P' picker tool is the same but you can't switch to it fast enough to notice the delay since Instant Preview will have finished doing its job by the time you get to the 'P' picker and use it. You could try it with Instant Preview off to see if that improves the situation. |

An apology for very delayed reply..
Thank you also for the ideas... I've ended up discovering that the problem had to do with CPU processor hardware. Upgraded to a faster clock speed processor, and the Ctrl color picker now works lightning fast - picking the correct colors no matter how fast I paint and pick ... even on those giant 15,000 pixel wide canvases. So this problem can be solved with a faster CPU... Thank you again! |

Posting because I had this same issue and found something that helps with it in another place.
