I have one project I was working on that Krita now refuses to open. My computer is brand new with a graphics card that should be able to handle large files without issue, but as soon as I started applying masks and filters, it won't open this document I saved last night.
Any help would be appreciated, as I'm brand new to digital art and I really don't want to start over.
64-bit Windows 10
12.0 Ram
Intel Core i-7 Processor
NVIDIA GeForce MX150 and Intel UHD Graphics 620

I'm not a computer wizard, so any other information you may need, let me know!

Can you post a link to this .kra file that won't open? If you don't have Dropbox or similar then you can use https://uploadfiles.io/ (30-day storage limit for unregistered users).

Before you saved it, did you notice how much RAM your image was using in krita - as noted on the status bar at the bottom?
Did krita show any kind of error messages or other non-usual messages or behaviour?

I didn't notice my RAM usage. Like I said, I'm new to digital art and there's a lot I'm still learning.
Here's the link. I'm also new to dropbox, so I'm hoping this works!

Thank you for that, I downloaded the .kra file with no problem. This really needs to be looked at by a developer.

[When I tried to open the file, krita became totally unresponsive with 100% CPU activity on all allocated cores for a long time and with 2.2GB system RAM usage before I killed it. After a quick look inside the .kra file, the image isn't very big at 2550 x 3300 pixels and doesn't seem to have a large amount of layer graphical content or a large number of layers.]

It may be useful to say what types of masks and filters you were applying and if they seemed to work properly before you saved it.
Also, which version of krita are you using and where did you get it from?
It would be helpful if you could quickly make another new roughly drawn image of that size and apply masks and filters in the same way then save it to see if you have the same problem, making a note of which masks and filters you used.
This may be random bad luck and file corruption but you'll have to wait for someone else to have a look at it and give advice.

The status bar along the bottom of the krita window gives information about your image, including how large it is (in pixels) and how much RAM it uses. Sometimes, people get very ambitious with image size and large animations with lots of frames and use up all their available RAM but in your case, with 12GB of RAM and a not very big image, it's not a problem.

Okay, I'm taking a look. I can confirm that loading it takes ages -- I haven't succeeded yet on this 32gb monster laptop, and takes up to 800% CPU but curiously enough, not a whole lot of memory.

The problem is the gaussian blur filter mask, when I remove that by editing the contents of the kra file directly, the file loads. This does look like a real bug that needs to be addressed, so please make a report on https://bugs.kde.org and attach or link to the file that demonstrates the issue.

I've also put a version of the kra file without the blur layer here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/5o7spbrkewn8f ... r.kra?dl=0
