What does "Flatten Layer" do ?

Fri May 03, 2019 2:25 pm
I have a krita image with canvas size 1440x900

I drag and paste in it an image of size 1920 x 1600 as new layer

My objective is to "cut" the image into the canvas size (no resizing need).

I do layer right click > flatten layer on the image layer.

Then Layer > Import/Export > Save Layer Mask and save that particular layer.

But the saved image is again 1920 x 1600 which was the image's original size.

How do i make krita cut the image to 1440x900 ?

Flatten layer merges in all the masks applied to a given layer and in the case of a group layer it flattens all the contents to a single layer.

What you are looking for is image->trim to image size, or using the crop tool with the tool options set to only crop a layer.
