Problem with Krita Animation Tools

Mon May 20, 2019 8:32 pm
Hi,

I am having trouble with Kritas Animation Tools.
According to the Manual the Animation Docker should look like this:
https://docs.krita.org/fr/reference_man ... ion-docker
And the Timeline Docker should look like this:
https://docs.krita.org/fr/reference_man ... ine-docker

Instead the Arrows for the Animation Docker are mixed up.
And the TImeline Docker has icons in the wrong location.
The correct locations are written up top, where i refrence them in the manual.

My problem i have detailed below in the screenshot.
Any idea what is causing it and possible solutions?
I have updated to the latest version of Krita Version 4.1.7.

I have a Hebrew Windows, could that cause problems? If so what solutions could you offer?
Could it be something Else?

It looks like the Hebrew Right-to-Left layout standard (for text) is being applied to everything wherever possible. Is that usual for computer applications?

Thank you for taking the time to answer my questioun, i really appreciate it.
This is quite usual for computer applications.
Do you have any possible solutions?

I have changed the language of the application to English via Settings>Switch Application Language
and than selecting American English as well as British English and clicked ok, and than restarted Krita.
Same Problem.

Here is a Screenshot of the problem:

Any ideas or solutions?

This really needs a krita developer to give advice and comment.
However, if the Hebrew version of Windows is doing this then it suggests that it's not because of anything in krita itself.

I notice that the status bar has a malformed image size presentation data. Do you get the correct tooltip text showing when you hover over it?
I see that the other dockers have been given a right to left layout and that the layers docker layer list items are malformed.
Do you get correct tooltips when you hover your cursor over other icons?

The presentation of the timeline and the reversal of the order of the animation docker controls all seem to correspond to this change of layout.
Do the animation docker icons perform their correct function when you click them?

As I said, at first sight it looks like it's caused by your version of Windows but it needs a krita developer to comment.

OMG OMG OMG!!!!!
IM TALKING TO AN ACTUAL KRITA DEVELOPER.
Sorry for the Fangirling, I have just always really looked up to the Developers of Krita, and now to get to talk to one, is kind of like a dream come true.
But calming down and back to the issue at hand.
Thank you both, ahabgreybeard and TheraHedwig, i know you both have full lives outside of this board, and i appreciate you taking the time to answer my questions.
I will do my best to provide any answers you ask :)

In answer to youre questioun ahabgarreybed,
After reading over youre commets, i started to notice that in all the menus and submenus, in everything there is a right to left layout which i suspect is caused by the Hebrew version of Windows doing it.

ahabgarreybed: Do you get the correct tooltip text showing when you hover over it? Do you get correct tooltips when you hover your cursor over other icons?

shrose: Yes, all of the ToolTips are in English and are correct, whether this is for the Animation and Timeline Docker, or any other icon.

ahabgarreybed: Do the animation docker icons perform their correct function when you click them?

shrose: Yes,i have even made some short Animations using the program.
I will attach a screenshot, of 1 frame, at the bottom.

ahabgarreybed: As I said, at first sight it looks like it's caused by your version of Windows but it needs a krita developer to comment.

shrose: Sounds Right, My Version of Windows is Widows 8.1 Pro.

Thaks so much for youre help ahabgarreybed.
If theres any other way i can help, please tell me. I fear though that this is a Bug in Krita caused by Hebrew Windows, maybe i should contact Microsoft Technical Support?
I also noticed when i tried to change back to the default language via Settings>Switch Application Language, it changed back to Hebrew. so im guessing the default language is hebrew even if i set it to English??

TheraHedwig-I absolutely think it is the bug report you uploaded. I read it to the bottom, and the errors described there are exactly what i am dealing with, in the Animation Dockers as well as the others.
Correct me if im wrong, but i dont think there was a solution at the end.
Does this require further development in the code in Krita to find a Solution?

I have no problem using my machine to try out any Bug Fixes?
Boudewijn Rempt suggested adding a manual over ride in the end, but i dont think he wrote that it was attempted.
Is there any way i can help?

No, it's more that Boudewijn needs to find some time to implement the override, and that's probably not going to be until after the 4.2 release as it needs extra text to be added(for the toggle), and our translators don't appreciate text being added while they try to translate.

You can try to subscribe to the bug (you can do that somewhere in the righthand column of the bug information at the top), and then you'll get an email when changes are made. We have nightly builds that you can test with once a change has been made.

I would be more than happy to do both these things. :)

1)Subscribing to the Bug Report
I could not find a subscribe link in the bug report, I looked in the righthand column of the bug information at the top
I will attach a screenshot of my screen, so you can see what im talking about.
Do i need a new user for the Bug Report?-If so, how do i create one?

2) Testing Nightly Builds
Once the nightly build is complete, Where do i download it from? and How can i test it, and who do i report the results to?

My Screenshot-Where do i click to subscribe to the bug?

Yeah, it seems you need to make an account, just press 'new account' at the bottom.

The nightlies are available on our download page as 'Krita: Next'.
