I don't understand what do you mean by "copying pixels". Can you explain that please?

Or maybe create a simple example on a new image file and just a few strokes?

@boudewijn i actually don't work at 800% zoom. it is zoomed larger for you to see, since i cannot share here in topic images larger than 720px. tymond is right regarding image size. the geisha drawing is after image size 600x800 and it is of poor quality. However, this didn't happen in the past when I was using Krita 4.1.7 . I'll try to make larger canvas at 300dpi and see if the issue continues or not. :)

Could it be that you open the image (geisha) and start painting over it instead of creating a new file, then importing the image as a layer?

When you open images directly on krita instead of just importing them as layers, the whole file follows the image resolution, which seems to be the case here.

To solve this issues, always make a new file (blank canvas) first, then import your reference images as layers.

Hi Quiralta

i think you got it right. i just followed your advice and it worked this way. it was confusing for me since i was able to draw directly over an image in 4.1.7.
when i finished the drawing i'd delete the original image and enlarge the drawing without getting any pixels.

but from now on i will follow your advice. thank you very much for help :)

here i used different brushes for the test and they no longer make those pixelated strokes

Glad it work out! and yes, always start with new files, this also let you choose sizes that are more concise among your drawings, like having all the same size for socials etc. :)
