krita bundle creation

Thu Jun 06, 2019 12:08 pm
Hello

Gotta say first, amazing program, getting alot of use out of it!

I have been having trouble with the bundle management for as long as I remember. But I think now it's somehow completely broken. I'm not sure if there is a bug or am I doing something wrong? I have to say I don't understand much about these.

I updated krita to the new 4.2 version (now updated to the 4.2.1 version). I can not create a bundle with my own brushes.
I had to redo my brushes for the 4.2 version of krita. They went away after updating. They are simple so thats not a problem, but the point is that I created them from scratch in the newest version of krita, so there should no be any compatibility issues. They use a predefined image as the tip, a png image i created. All is well this far.

But I use another computer and updated krita there as well and my earlier brushes vanished. So naturally I wanted to import the new brushes I just created. But I cannot create a bundle with the brushes. they just wont get saved into the bundle. A brush made with the auto tip instead of predifined tip can be bundled.

I looked into the krita AppData folder and there the predifined png images are in the brushes folder. And my new brushes are in paintoppresets folder as .kpp files.

I also tried to import those .kpp files as brushes from the resource manager but that crashes krita.

I think I will now remake the brushes again on my other computer and see if I create a bundle from them.

Er, that's not good.

Resource system has always been fragile, which is why we're trying to rewrite it. But you shouldn't be losing your brushes or whatever in the meantime. Could you report a few bugs at bugs.kde.org, and attach the resources that broke, and maybe even make a backtrace and attach that to the report?

Like, sure, to fix all the bugs we need to do a full rewrite, but that doesn't mean you should be losing your brushes inbetween as long that hasn't happened yet...
