Sound glitching

Tue Jun 18, 2019 3:01 am
This is my first post, so let me know if I am doing something wrong

I've been working on animating a longer animation, about 1300 frames. I am syncing it to an mp3 file, but the audio is bugging out and I want to know whether or not to file a bug report. What happens is:
A. Starting the audio in the middle of the animation
or
B. Working perfectly fine until about 100 frames in, when the fist couple of words repeat over and over.
or
C. Starting and stopping the audio

I've checked the mp3 and it is working perfectly, and I want to know if anyone has any solutions,
and I've just updated to the most recent version if that helps :)

Which OS are you using and which version of krita?

Have you downloaded and installed ffmpeg according to the advice in the manual: https://docs.krita.org/en/reference_man ... animations ?
This is essential because what seem to be the usual/standard ffmpeg installations are not good for krita.

Is this audio problem during playback in krita or after rendering to .mp4 or both? (Linux appimages can't do audio playback but should render ok.)

Using the 4.2.1 appimage, I've rendered a 1 minute video with an .mp3 audio file with no problems.

I am using a 64bit os, version 4.2, and the problem is before rendering. After rendering the file as an mp4, the audio works just fine then. I have downloaded ffmpeg by the instructions in the manual. The problem just occurs whilst animating, but once rendered syncs perfectly.

I have no experience of hearing audio playback on a Windows 10 system because my Win 10 installation has broken audio. (My usual OS is Linux and the Linux appimage version of krita doesn't do audio playback but renders audio just fine, for playback in .mp4)

It may be that your computer isn't powerful enough to do live synchronised playback while krita is also juggling frames. This needs advice from someone who has experience with sound playback in krita using Windows.

Audio playback is unfortunately broken in Krita now. There was a fix for that, but had to be undone because it broke other things... You can mitigate it a bit by using .wav files instead of .mp3 files, but in general, that needs a fix to be done in Krita code.

For lip-syncing it's better to make some kind of animatic with mouth shapes in another program (e.g. video editor or some simple animation program that can handle sound better...) and then import frames into Krita and animate there.
