Hello!
I've been using Krita on OpenSuse (Tumbleweed) for quite some time, and love using it. However, since I recently updated my system, Krita was also updated to version 4.2.2. Since then, there have been some problems that I've tried to solve but to no avail. The latest version of Krita has changed a few things, and I have become confused. I no longer know how to select an object, as the selection tool can no longer be found on the toolbox. Has it been replaced with something else, or has the method of selecting changed? Similarly, the earlier 'select by color' tool is also missing, and that can be quite problematic when colouring. Can someone please help me understand how to use the newer version? Thanks a lot in advance! |

Ugh, looks lik,e a broken installation - I guess you should reinstall your Krita. All the selection tools are in the same place they were in 4.1.7.

I hadnt considered that possibility. I'll reinstall Krita then, and hopefully that should fix it. Thanks for the quick response! ![]() |

Hello again! I tried out the suggestion of reinstalling Krita and even retried completing my system update before that, but the various selection tools are still missing in version 4.1.2. I'm running Krita on Tumbleweed. Can anyone help me? If this is part of the new update, can someone tell me how do I revert to the older version please? Also, I rechecked and found that I'm running Krita version 4.1.2 not 4.2.2. Sorry for the mistake. |

When you updated your system, it sounds like your krita installation was updated from the Tumbleweed repositories, as well as other parts of your system.
I suggest that you download the 4.2.2 appimage from here: https://krita.org/en/download/krita-desktop/ (remember to set file permissions to allow execution) and try that one. I've just tried it and it works fine. Running an appimage will not affect any parts of your system or current krita installation and will use the same krita settings/configuration/resources. If you still have problems, you could take a full screenshot and post a link to it here. |

I uninstalled Krita and ran the system update using the terminal, then rebooted and installed Krita. It runs fine now. Thanks! |
