Hello all,
I have a Dell Precision M6800 laptop with 32GBs of ram that has 2 1TB ssd's and one 2TB HD installed. One of the SSD's is an mSATA drive that is formatted into 2 partitions, one 32GB partition used as SWAP and the 2nd partition is 900GBs formatted as an NTFS data disk. The other 1TB SSD has Windows 10 Pro installed. I dual boot with MX Linux installed on an external USB 3 HD with Windows 10. I just downloaded the latest appimage of Krita and have been in the process of setting it up. I have a few questions pertaining to the settings in the Performance section of the Configure Krita utility. Under the general tab in the RAM section, I have 32GBs of RAM and I currently have the memory limit set to 60%, is this a good setting or should I increase or decrease the Memory Limit? I also have two more questions about memory, what is the "Internal Pool"? which is by default set at 0.00% and what is the "Swap Undo After"? and its default size is only 160MiB The next question I have is about "Swap File Size" under the File Size Limit" I set this as 32GBs and under "Swap File Location" I created a folder on the NTFS partition of the mSATA SSD named Krita Swap. Is there a way to configure Krita to use the Swap Partition that MX Linux uses or is the Swap partition reserved only for the system? The last question I have is about the "Animation Cache" tab the default setting is On-disk, it does have the option "In-memory", with having 32GBs of system RAM would selecting the In-Memory be ok? Thanks, Robert |

The manual will help you grasp what each option does: https://docs.krita.org/en/reference_manual/preferences/performance_settings.html
