Since Krita 4.2 and following was released, I have experienced problems with the instant preview and the zoom. I am working with 1.5 GiB images, and the zoom is stuck when I make pronounced changes in scale, with a stepped behavior, which makes my current work flow very affected. The use of the CPU is triggered when I make quick changes of scale. Everything works fine with instant preview disabled.
I already reported this here viewtopic.php?f=139&t=161102, although I thought it would be solved in successive versions. In 4.1.5 and 4.1.7, the zoom works well with both instant preview enabled and disabled. The use of the CPU, with abrupt changes of zoom is more moderate, and much more smooth. There is a strange behavior, in which the zoom behaves smoothly, with the instant preview activated, in 4.2 and later. It happens when I use large brushes and apply quick and fast brush strokes. While Krita calculates the final render, the zoom works well. When Krita has just calculated, and presents the final brushstrokes, the zoom returns to behave badly. So far, my hardware has given very good performance. I do not know if Krita is now more demanding with the GPU, and it's time to buy a dedicated graphic card, or is it an OpenGL problem, or the new version of Qt. OS: Manjaro linux KDE.
