Hi,
I really like the blending in corel, the palette knives in particular. I would like to move to Krita so I'm trying to recreate something similar, but got stuck. Here's a comparison of the corel one and my current attempt in krita: ![]() ![]() To me it seems I need to lower the opacity, however, when I do so it appears to affect the smudge length parameter, since lowering the opacity to 50% and lowering the smudge length to 50% yields identical results in the brush preview: ![]() So when I lower the opacity it simply doesnt smudge anything anymore. If I lower the layer opacity however (with the brush still on 100%) the effect seems to be closer to what I have in corel. I think I'm missing something, is there a different way to control the opacity? If any brush wizards could point me in the right direction that would be greatly appreciated! thanks in advance /FIH |

Hi,
(disclaimer; I never tried the brush you aim to reproduce and can't, so it is supposition) Try to have a look how i)_Wet_Paint preset was built. It uses a workaround with a flat mid-grey Pattern to benefit of an extra layer of opacity control via pressure of the stylus. Also; "smudge lenght" be sure to use 'dulling' , and keep a smudge Radius under a constant 50% (and not linked to any sensors). |

hello deevad, thank you for your reply!
I am fairly certain the one in corel is a smearing based blender, at least if my understanding of it is correct. I'm going to try the smudge radius setting. So there is no extra layer of opacity control in the smudge engine without using your workaround? thank you again, appreciate it! |

For that particular brush behavior it might be better to change the mode to dulling instead of smearing in the Smudge Length section. The manual has an extensive overview of the different combinations: https://docs.krita.org/en/reference_man ... ngine.html
Also please don't make duplicate request for help posts at the same time here and on reddit, it's actually against the rules. |

Thank you for your reply Snudl, read your reply on reddit too. I've read the reference manual and tried alot of different combinations, dulling being one of them, and I think smudge yields results closer to what I'm looking for. But I will try to adjust the curves like you said. Much appreciated for the help, and apologies for the crosspost. I didn't think that people necessarily visits both sites. But rules are rules
