I have been using Krita for somewhere around a year, now, but came to a situation where I needed to replace my board. That was a hassle and a half, but it's over, and I have a new one, now.
Unfortunately, I've run into problems with the new board interacting with Krita, insofar as it runs slow and unbelievably laggy. I have already reinstalled the OS on the computer once to try and get things behaving, and have made sure all drivers and updates are properly installed. Unfortunately, this has done nothing to fix my issues inside the program, and it continues to be slow and non-functional as a drawing service. I would so much love to continue using Krita, I depend on it, and it's a beautiful interface, but this problem makes it completely not work. I've gone through every bit of troubleshooting I can find, and while I'm not very good at research, that did include playing with the settings, uninstalling/reinstalling, trying older versions, and trying the newer version, and the problem I'm having is consistant across the board. Since I know the documentation stated you guys get the most help out of a recording of the issue, Video As you can see, I started with a new image and was having this issue. When I work at my normal resolution, the program can freeze for minutes at a time just trying to comprehend my penstrokes. I'd also like to point out that SEVERAL of the links on the Krita website's support page do not work at all. The pages they link to are either broken or do not exist anymore. |

When you say, "... replace my board.", do you mean the motherboard on your computer? Reinstalling the OS does suggest that.
You seem to be using Windows 10 as an OS (?) What versions of krita have you tried and what is the drawing tablet that you're using? If there are broken links on the krita website, it would be very useful for the website maintainers if you could provide a list of those links and maybe send them to the contact address for the website. |

I apologize, yes. Windows 10 is my system.
By replace my board, I meant my whole wacom board. The OS reinstall was because of bad install the first time (got a bad image, had to redo it.) Board is a Mobile Studio Pro, and I'll get that documentation in a moment here, gotta go find it again. I have the documentation from the help -> system information, but I don't see a file upload position here and it's a large wall of text Also, the 'contact us' page on the website lists this forum and something called IRC, so... Re: Support page here: https://krita.org/en/get-involved/report-a-bug/ The pages that do not work that are linked here include: Questions and Answers: https://ask.krita.org/ and the Q and A Website link, which is the same address |

The ask.krita.org website was closed down some time ago so that link is 'dead' and the website needs to be tidied up there. The krita developers and maintainers are always busy and have lots to do but I'm sure they'll get around to it eventually.
Your use of the word 'board' confused me. You have a graphics display/tablet, one with an integrated computer (very nice). The word 'board' is used for other purposes. When you say you, "... reinstalled the OS on the computer ...", do you mean you reinstalled Windows 10? (Windows 10 is the Operating System.) If so, you may have deeper and more serious problems. Wacom products are usually very good so it's surprising that you have a problem here. In the Wacom tablet/pen contol utility (whatever it's called), where you set up the various behaviours and charactersitics, it's a good idea to set up a specific profile for krita. You don't have to do anything in particular in terms of setting up different characteristics for use with krita, but simply setting up a separate profile often fixes problems with Wacom on Windows. Also, iif you have a separate profile for krita, you can make detailed adjustments to suit your use in krita and not affect its use with other applications. You can copy/paste large amounts of text into your post here if you like. It's useful to read this: https://docs.krita.org/en/user_manual/d ... blets.html and especially this: https://docs.krita.org/en/user_manual/d ... om-tablets |

I have had wacom products for more than a decade now, and the first ones were labelled as drawing boards. Due to my exposure to the term, that's the one I fall back on when I reference my drawing board, or mobile studio pro, which is actually a pen computer, not a tablet. It does not connect to my primary computer, and almost exclusively is intended for drawing software.
When I got this replacement for my original one, the windows OS did not install properly and was left with flaws I was unable to fix. Per Wacom's troubleshooting instructions and my husband's decades of experience as a net and computer tech, I reinstalled the operating system and was able to finally get the drivers and other installs to go through properly. Not until that point did I get Krita to work at all. Even installed, it wouldn't load. Now it loads, but it moves incredibly slow. You saw in the video that it took a few seconds of processing even while the pen was on the computer's screen. It took a few seconds to process anything. This is not a problem with my tablet's drivers. I have checked several times to make sure my drivers and all other installs are up to date. I have played with the settings inside the wacom pen console and gotten those adjusted to where I need them for my particulars, and I have checked every setting in krita against the support documents. Even with a new document, Krita itself freezes and refuses to process information while I'm trying to draw. During that time, other programs function perfectly, like firefox for troubleshooting instructions or updates, for instance. Due to the fact I've had problems with my last board overheating insanely quickly, and am concerned about the potential for the same issue in this one, I do my darnedest to never run more than one or two programs. I do not run firefox for music, I do not run itunes or groove or anything else, and I try to make sure all my updates are done before I run Krita at all. However, so I have the information, I HAVE tested it with other programs. The pen responds normally everywhere else, and the board does not freeze, it's just Krita. I have tried the latest version of Krita, and almost every version back to the earliest one available through the past downloads link on Krita's websites, always with the same results. So that you have my system information (I hadn't posted it because I saw some information that left me concerned there might be private data in the document, and had been hoping to upload the file instead)... Here's the data on my Windows 10 Wacom Mobile Studio Pro device running the latest version of Krita available from the basic 'download now' link on Krita's download webpage

The private data in the system information log is that your username is "Rurat", which some people may regard as personal/confidential information and also some details about file names and folder names on your computer. Some people may prefer not to share this information.
According to the system information listing, you are running Windows 7. This may be a problem. Did you reinstall the OS using a DVD that was provided with the Wacom device? |

Uhm, no. No I am not running windows 7. Also, the mobile studio pro does not have a CD drive, so when I say I reinstalled the OS, I followed a path provided by the troubleshooting agents at wacom to delete all data and restart the OS install process. My board is very much windows 10. I don't know why or how Krita would see 7.
EDIT: ... Because as part of earlier troubleshooting, my husband suggested I run it in compatibiilty mode for an older windows. And apprently that option doesn't get unchecked when reinstalling Krita. >,> Okay, so the ink now follows the pen more normally. It's still a little slower than I'm used to, but it's liveable now |
