Hello. I have been a Krita user for 3+ years, but this issue just appeared recently. I am currently running Win10 x64. And the problem is Krita crashes after several brushstrokes. I once solved the problem by deleting all brushes and rolling back to default ones. But after some time the glitch returned. I noticed that it starts to occur when I paste pictures directly from Web as new layers. I am at a loss, because my work depends on it and I cannot work anymore because of these crashes. Maybe there is some solution after all?

* Are you using opengl, angle or no canvas acceleration?

* The crash log would be more useful if you would have the debug symbols installed. Thanks for answering. I am using Krita 4.2.4 but this bug has been persistent with 4.2.2 and 4.2.3 both on Win 7 and Win 10. I tried to switch between OpenGl and Angle - but it still crashes after some brushwork. The task manager shows immense GPU load, which is strange, because the blur brush is not large and I have GTX 1660 with 6Gb of memory, so I don't even know what the reason can be. But thanks, I will update - maybe it will help.

PS, I was just thinking - maybe it is the HUION monitor-tablet driver I am using - maybe it causes some conflicts?

No, the monitor shouldn't make any difference. And since you experience these issues on two systems, there must be something different going on.

Please check whether disabling canvas acceleration completely makes a difference. It would also be useful to move this to bugs.kde.org:

* please add the detailed crash log I asked for above to the bug report
* It would also be useful to attach the contents of help->system information for bug reports to the bug report
* and please add the dimensions, colormodel and channel depth of the image you're working on
* check whether you have any security software other than shipped by Microsoft installed
* If you have a razr gaming mouse, please also note that

I have compiled two text documents. One - from kritacrash.txt file - only the latest error with krita crashing. And also I have installed the DebugView program and recorded the session with that latest crash of the program. Please check it if you have time.

Weirdly enough, in accordance with the debugger, Krita was unable to create its swap file at a Temp fie location. I changed the location of the swap file and that error
'swap out of tile failed" disappeared. Krita is now able to perform the same procedures as before - only without any crashes so far. Is it a problem with my OS or I should change some privileges so Krita can write to drive C?

oh, that sounds like something we need to check then and warn the user about -- but yes, if Krita cannot write to the swap file location, that's not good.

Okay, I've just pushed https://invent.kde.org/kde/krita/commit ... 97ac7042c2 -- which will make Krita either try to write its swap to the user's home directory if the tmp directory is unwritable, or, if the home directory is also unwritable, halt Krita.

I have noticed that if Krita swap file already exists at the destination folder - Krita cannot rewrite it and just cancels swap file creation. Maybe there's a way to automatically delete this file on exit? This would solve the problem. Win 10 has a feature called Storage sense - it cleans temp folders. But the most frequent interval is 1 day. So it would make sense if Krita could delete its own temp file on exit

Cool. No problem. Actually, Krita purges its swap file if exited normally. But in case of abnormal termination - like power outage or hardware failure - the swap file is still there and then this error happens. Maybe when started Krita should check if there's a swap file and somehow delete or overwrite it?

Other than that - the program works like breeze, especially the latest updates. Thank you for your hard work and thank you for keeping Krita alive and thriving. It is the best painting application by far.
