I have three questions about krita
1.will it ever have proper abr import with all settings? 2.will it ever have a proper clipping mask instead of the workaround layer group? 3.Is there a flat blending option and a tilt gradation option in krita?if there is, can I make this exact brush in krita? https://youtu.be/ClD0ZQXEK9U

1. Unlikely, the format in question is a binary format, which means it looks like the matrix to anyone but the program that created it. It's a wonder we can extract the image to begin with.
2. No. Alpha inheritance is not a workaround, it is more powerful than clipping masks in the long run. Please try to learn how to use them. 3. I think the flat blending you are thinking of is the dulling mode in the color smudge brush. As for the borodante brush, you'll have to try for yourself, I myself don't have time to watch that video. |

Not related to this, but do you guys have plans for adding more blending modes for the texture setting for the brush(height, lighten, color burn) And maybe make height default. It is good for more realism |

We do not currently have any plans but doing bug fixing for now. If someone comes in with a patch it is welcomed, but right now our focus is really bugfixing.

Maybe you guys should consider that.
It is almost in all other programs and it would make krita brushes 10x better |

Why do you think more options in blending modes for textures would make Krita's brushes so much better? Could you tell what is a difference between those blending modes andy why it would improve Krita if more was available?
For an easy example of some similar brush you check this out: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1qTJEb ... 1GZQsKZeFu - there is tilt and texture, if texture is too strong, play with Spacing or cutoff options. I didn't add the masked brush because I never played with it so I don't really know how to use it, you're welcome to add it yourself though. |

The reason why is because having only 2 blending modes for the texture brush gives us limited options. Whereas the height blending mode is standard in all drawing programs that support texture. It gives us more realism. You can watch borodante brush video to see the settings. |

Why Height gives us more realism than Multiply? What is a difference between them?
Also, do you know what is the math behind the Height mode? I can't seem to find any information about it... |

All I can do is link you a bunch of videos. I'm not much of a maths guy, but I'm guessing it works more on the edges. In the video I linked at the beginning of the post , you can go to the 6:15 mark and see the difference it makes from the multiply blending mode. It is also a default in photoshop where I can show you it in this video- https://youtu.be/sgkkA1W-Xu0 . It is a pretty short video and it basically shows how the height blending mode works. It would be a very useful addition to krita adding to the advanced pixel brush engine. |

Infact, i do have photoshop, so I can just show you the difference.

Sure, but please 1) give us a texture file you're using, 2) use a soft circle brush, 3) make sure you don't use "Textured Each Tip" option because in Krita it's only available through Masked Brush.

The thing that is troublesome here is that there's no such thing as a formally defined 'height' blending mode, so for all we know it is a demon summoning spell that is being used for the algorithm.
When asked about a similar feature for the masked brush, it turned out subtract was actually sufficient. Maybe even setting the cuttoff to pattern and adjusting the cutoff would get what you want: https://docs.krita.org/en/reference_man ... xture.html For reference, the blending mode would need to be implemented here: https://invent.kde.org/kde/krita/blob/m ... n.cpp#L253 |
