Trying to use Krita to extract myself from a background, but the hair is really hard to do. I'm trying to use the color curves tool to help distinguish me from the background, which is mostly lighter, and use that for a transparency mask to place over the first image.

I tried copying the pixels from the first image over to the transparency mask, but when I paste, it just makes a new regular layer. Please help

Put the intended mask under the paint layer and do Convert -> To Transparency Mask
