Hi everyone, i just installed Krita 4.2.7.1, on mac os Catalina, and it's showing me this message: "krita can't be opened because Apple cannot check it for malicious software"
I tried to re install it and restart my mac but it did not solve the problem, tried to find some other solutions around but i still have the same problem, does anyone had this issue before and know how to fix it? could you help me please? Thanks in advance. |

We're working on complying with Apple's latest bit of intrusive insanity. It's not part of the release system yet, though we've had one success, at the price of another 100 euros for another developer account.
But it _is_ crazy that people want to run an OS that will only allow them to run binaries that have been lightly vetted by the OS manufacturer. It's your computer, which you no longer can do with as you like, so Apple is taking your freedom away from you. |

Barring accidents, many common apps like Krita have exactly the same issue on macOS Catalina. It's a new Apple gateway method, which requires app devs to notarize their apps. You can bypass this error message by opening the app through System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Check Allow apps downloaded from App Store and identified developers > Click Open Anyway.
If it still doesn't work, I assume that you are double clicking on the Krita install icon, yes? Don't do that. Instead right mouse click on it. You should get an Open option in context menu: Select Open. Then the next dialog box you see will be similar to the one you report, but it will also have the Open button added. Choose Open and voila. |
