Reference Image in Krita won't work

Fri Jan 17, 2020 4:10 am
So I have been trying to upload a reference image on to Krita and can't seem to get it to work. I've been pressing the Image button. Then I click the Image button to add an image. I chose to add this Image, but when I hit ok it gives me this Image.

What have I done wrong? What do I need to do to fix this? Thanks!

Which version of Krita are you using? Does this file loads into Krita if you just open it in it (not as reference image) ?

I'm using Krita 4.2.8. Yes, if I go to >File>Open it does open it up and makes it a layer.

I'm new to this and didn't realize you could do it like that! I had looked up some help online and it had recommended using >Layer>Import/Export which only created a little image in the upper left had corner of the screen.

If you import an image as a layer and it shows up very small then that's because it has pixel dimensions that are very small compared to the image you import it into.

If you want advice, explanations, tutorials, etc. then the online documentation is here: https://docs.krita.org/en/
It's well written and illustrated and you can download an epub version.

It's often better to take a full screen .png screenshot and post a link to it here when you have problems because the screen has all sorts of information on it that would be of use to someone trying to figure out why you're having a problem.
