So I am normally a pixel artist but decided to paint my gf a valentines card in krita and noticed while doing this that my pen pressure was set to off. I've spent a few days reading through help posts and watching videos, I tried reinstalling, uninstalling, reinstalling, adjusting pressure settings in krita, checking the pen pressure on/off tool bar all to no avail. No one seems to have my specific issue, or any solution for me.
So here's my setup, using a samsung galaxy book, pressure setting used to work fine. tested in paint and MS Ink and I do see pen pressure working. So what can I try? |

Yes, it does. You can try to switch between wintab and windows 8 pointer api in Krita, as is explained in that link, and either will work, unless you really broke your setup.

ok, tried that it didnt work. I honestly have not messed with my settings much other than arranging dockers. Is there a way to restore it all to default I tried reinstalling but it kept my settings.

Using the tablet tester, what do you see on the grid and what output do you get on the text panel when you draw on the grid with a variety of pressure levels?
The tablet tester is at Settings -> Configure Krita -> Tablet settings group, click the big 'Open Tablet Tester button. Move and resize the small Tablet Tester window to make it usefully large. If the text panel shows entries with P=100%, this means that krita itself is not being given pressure variation data from your stylus and if so then no amount of settings changes will help the situation. If you do want to try restoring settings to default then go to C:\Users\windydruid\Local Settings\ In there, somewhere in the list of folders and files, you will see a file called ‘kritarc’. This is the file that is used to store the look-feel-behaviour-settings of your krita application. Rename this file to ‘kritarc-old’ then start krita. This will return krita to newborn/default settings by recreating the ‘missing’ kritarc file. It will not affect your brushes or any other resources that you’ve spent time and effort making or obtaining. (They are stored in a different location.) You will need to redo any personal cosmetic or settings changes you’ve made so far though, if needed. If that works to solve the current problem then good. If not, you can return to the old setup by deleting the newly created kritarc file and then renaming ‘kritarc-old’ to ‘kritarc’. It is possible that a Windows update has messed up your stylus/screen driver (it happens). If so, you'll have to wait for the next Windows update which hopefully will fix whatever they've done to you. Also, have you tried disabling/enabling Windows Ink at the operating system level using whatever utilities Windows has for that. That has been know to fix things or at least change things. |
