Hi there,
Krita isn't working on my new computer.. (Mac OS Catalina) When I try to draw, Krita becomes very laggy and draws only some edgy lines, a circle turns into a hexagon etc. Tried to fix this problem by adjusting some performance settings. Shouldn't be a problem with my Mac but with Krita. Hope you can help me J |

The problem is that Krita relies on OpenGL to accelerate the canvas, and Apple hates open standards, so OpenGL on macOS is a problem, especially for larger images. You can try to disable canvas acceleration altogether (which also disables some features) and see whether that helps on your mac.

Thanks for your answer.. Unchecking Canvas Graphics Acceleration doesn't help Is there anything else I can do? |

Not easily. I mean, all of this is in the faq: https://docs.krita.org/en/KritaFAQ.html#krita-is-slow and before we know what's up, you'll have to provide a lot of information.
* What is the size, color model and channel depth of the image you're working on? * What tablet are you using? * What hardware are you using? * You said "Tried to fix this problem by adjusting some performance settings." -- which performance settings did you change, and what did you them too, exactly? |

I tried to draw on an empty canvas (standard settings) Tablet: Gaomon M106K Computer: MacBook Pro 2017, 2,5GHz i7 Dual Core CPU, 16GB RAM LPDDR3, Intel Iris Plus Graphics 640 1536 MB I set the RAM limit to 100% (didn't change anything) |

Hm... It is possible that the gaomon tablet sends too many events so that Krita is too busy listening to the tablet to have time to refresh the canvas. Maybe the tablet driver has some settings to tweak. I've only ever used a wacom tablet with my macbook pro (2015, Intel graphics), and while macOS is the OS where we see most performance problems, Krita usable with that setup.
Other than that, you could try to disable Progress reporting in the advanced tab of the performance page in the settings dialog. |

Hi! For me working on Catalina is much more responsive and smooth than in Mojave, however I use a wacom tablet and a somewhat small canvas (2000x2000px) in RGB 8-bit for my drawing in it.
