Hi all,
I've slowly and surely been moving toward using Linux as my daily driver - KDE has been a huge part in that. I'm left handed, and while I draw I use the mouse in my right hand. This means I can perform certain tasks, like zooming and panning, with my right hand while I continuously draw with my left. Funnily enough, I had no trouble with this workflow on Windows, however moving over to linux, quickly switching between between tablet and mouse functions seems to confuse Krita. It feels as if it has a mouse mode and a tablet mode that it switches between, but can get stuck if I move between the two. The most obvious issue is being able to zoom in with the mouse wheel while the pen is over the tablet. In Windows I can zoom out and in without problem, but on Linux, if the tablet pen is moving while hovering (given I'm an infallible human, is often), the mouse wheel doesn't function at all. Really I just want the mouse to be able to do it's own thing while the tablet is doing its thing, even if that means stepping on each others toes. Is there any setting on Linux or Krita that might solve this? It's the same on all distributions, all desktop environments, and all version of Krita I've tried (flatpak, appimage, native etc). I've tried libwacom and xorg-driver-input-wacom to no avail. Thanks in advance! |

I think that's a limitation of X11.

Oh welcome to the club of lefties using the mouse with the right hand...
And yes, I'm annoyed by that issue too at times, but by now I lift the pen above sensor range almost automatically since it blocks cursor movements anyway, and I don't like using the UI with the pen. I'd try to improve it, but honestly, input handling on X11 just makes you want to run away screaming. Actually, I have the impression that this is what most people really do that try to work on it, given the amount of work being done on that front (or rather, the lack thereof). |

Hi!
I know that this doesn't directly answer your issue but... Since you're talking about common drawing operations, maybe you can use the shift, ctrl, and alt shortcuts to pan, zoom and rotate with the pen? It will not be simultaneous per say, but I guess you don't often draw and zoom at the same time unless you're crazy good at it or have a trick in mind ^^. That's actually what I did before I had a tablet with shortcut keys, in order to avoid messing up my computer with two pointers at the same time. In case you haven't given a try at these things yet, here're the shortcuts I know :
Of course, it will be easier using the keys on the right side of the keyboard than the left, given you'll use your right handy ;p. |

Thanks all! Glad to know this isn't just a simple setting that I've missed.
Seems silly to abandon Linux over a quirky habit I've fallen into - I'll be using the tips from @tortliena to see if I can adjust my workflow away from the mouse and instead using the right side of the keyboard. Thanks again ![]() |

I use Windows and that's it, the tablet confronts the mouse, but I just lift the pen, where it doesn't have the sync and that's it. Alias is very simple
