I'm trying to render an animation, and each time I do the render looks darker than it should be, as if it's been partially grayscaled. Any idea what's going on?

Yeah, most probably you hurt yourself with HDR settings. Go to "Both" tab and check both PNG image sequence settings and video format settings. Uncheck HDR in both. Render it once with "Both" just in case since I don't know if PNG settings would be saved otherwise... (I guess it should, but).
