In a previous version of Krita (I'm not sure which I had). I was able to drag layers from one image to another. But I can't seem to do that with 4.2.9.
Is there a way to make that functionality available? I've tried copying and pasting the layers and that doesn't seem to work either. There are other function differences that are frustrating me but I've managed to find a workaround to most of those. But not this one. |

With 4.2.8 and 4.2.9 I can drag-copy a layer between two images that are in separate sub-windows or separate main windows.
I can also do copy/paste between sub-windows and main windows. I'm using the Linux appimages but it shouldn't make a difference if you're using Windows. What happens if you try to do it? Can you download the previous version .zip package (assuming you're using Windows) and check that? You'll find the 4.2.7.1 and 4.2.8 folders here: https://download.kde.org/stable/krita/ I can't think of any major function differences between 4.2.9 and previous versions. Can you give examples of what you mean by that? |

I'm using the Windows 64 version.
When I try to drag it over it doesn't work like it used to. I get the red circle with a slash through it that tends to mean "Not Allowed". Before I could drag a layer from the Layers panel up and over to the tab for a different image and drop the layer into it. As to the other question, the first thing that comes to mind is that I could select a layer and hit the alt button and then only see that layer. I'm sure there is a term for it but it no longer works. It seemed like a very useful function so it would seem odd that it would be gone. I think I was using a 4.1 version of Krita. I don't believe I had anything customized on it. |

Yes, this is currently broken. The reason is that the people who make the programming framework we use for krita, Qt, have changed the way drag and drop is handled in a very strange way, and we haven't been able to figure out how to restore the old behaviour.

Oh no. Is it known what version this last worked in?

I think it broke with 4.2.0
