I'm using the latest version of Krita on a computer with windows 10 and 16GB RAM. Now whenever I try to render the animation it either won't work or the resulting file can't be played. I followed all the instructions that can be found on the Krita website. If the rendering "works" the file size is shown to be 0 bytes and when I try to play it, the message that it is corrupted appears.
The animation has 3 layers and about 950 frames each. Is there anything I can do to make it work? Thanks in advance for an answer! |

I assume that you're running version 4.2.9 of krita?
Just to be sure, have you followed all the instructions and advice on this page of the manual?: https://docs.krita.org/en/reference_man ... ation.html Does your animation play ok in krita and save and load with no problems if you make a minor change to it? How much RAM is the animation using in krita - this is shown on the status bar where the canvas size is displayed. Can you hover over that indicator to get the details of RAM usage and say what they are? The default RAM allocation for krita is 50% of total system RAM which is 8GB in your case. Have you made any changes to this setting? Are you running any other applications that might use a large amount of RAM? Have you tried running the Windows Task Manager to see how much RAM is in use while working on this animation and trying to render it out. Please perform some simple tests with the following files: A short .mp4 file produced by krita: https://www.dropbox.com/s/l5hvfe0fl5419 ... n.mp4?dl=1 Does that .mp4 file play for you? A short .kra animation used to produce the previous .mp4 file: https://www.dropbox.com/s/7x00diiu9ql6v ... n.kra?dl=1 Does that .kra animation play in krita and what do you get if you try to render it as .mp4? The ffmpeg log file produced while doing the previous rendering: https://www.dropbox.com/s/y58o16syk4w4j ... e.log?dl=1 When you render out a video file, ffmpeg creates a log file named log_encode.log. What is in your encode log when you try to render out that .kra file? |

Yes, i followed all the instructions.
Yes, the animation plays ok on krita and it saves and loads without any problems. The animation uses 7.7 GB RAM but I changed the settings so that it can use 12 GB in total. There are no other programs running. The .mp4 file played just fine, but when I tried to render the .kra file the same problem as with my own animation occurred: the log file was empty, the size of the video was 0 bytes and when I tried to play it, it didn't work. |

Are you using krita version 4.2.9?
Where did you get it from? Have you always had this problem with rendering animations to .mp4? Did you get ffmpeg from here: https://ffmpeg.zeranoe.com/builds/win64 ... static.zip ? If not, I suggest that you do and Extract it and leave the resulting folder in your Downloads folder, then point FFMpeg (in the Render Animation - Krita window) to the ffmpeg.exe which is in the 'bin' folder inside the extracted folder. If that doesn't work, try the 'standalone' portable .zip package from here: https://download.kde.org/stable/krita/4 ... -4.2.9.zip Leave it in your Downloads folder, Extract it and then run the krita.lnk file that is inside the resulting folder. |

It worked now, thank you very much!
I downloaded ffmpeg again and did everything again and then it somehow worked. |
