I've kind of ignored it for a bit, but I'm noticing that I can't open any files, jpg, gif, -even- .kra files when I right click and choose 'open with' and then choose Krita in Windows. Is there any way to fix this? I'm using version 4.2.9.
I just checked. I CAN 'open with' if Krita is not running. It will open Krita and show the file. But if Krita is running I can't 'open with' and also, I can't double click a .kra file to load it if Krita is already open. |

Is "Allow only one instance of Krita" checked in Settings->Configure Krita->General->Window?

Ah yes it is. So it's normal to do what it's doing? It doesn't bother me, I just want to make sure everything's working right.

If the option is enabled, Krita should open the new image in an existing window, otherwise create a new window. If that doesn't work, it might be a bug in 4.2.9. I've checked on Linux with a build from the 4.3 branch, and there it works as expected.

Okay, sadly it's doing the same thing with the option on or off (restarted too.)
I hope it's not a problem in my system ![]() I'll check my Antivirus software, it hasn't been stringent for a while and I don't imagine it would... but maybe. |

Oh interesting. Okay so my antivirus is very light lately. I changed Krita to full access, and I am now able to open a new Krita with unchecking that one instance option.
It opens a whole new instance like it should. But still no go on a sub window. |

I've got the same problem on Arch Linux, Krita 4.2.9 and Qt 5.14.2
"Open with..." context works when "Allow only one instance of Krita" is unchecked, but does not work anymore when the option is checked. |

Please try the 4.3.0-beta1 version; that works for me.

Thank you boudewijn I'll give it a try as quickly as possible and share my result. Krita's working great and this would be extra great.
