Some suggestions

Mon May 18, 2020 9:10 pm
Hello!

I haven't used Krita for awhile, but recently I am doing some work on a project and I think Krita is the best fit. Anyway, I am reasonably familiar with Krita, and I think Krita is a great program, but I do have a few suggestions:

(1) In the file browser could we please get bookmarks? Having to navigate around is a real time killer. It may not seem like much, but it adds up.

(2) Can someone make the histogram update in real-time? I mean when doing adjustments like curves or levels the histogram should change as I make adjustments. I am sure there might be some delay, but that is better than having to commit to a filter before seeing changes in the histogram. Also, please consider some options in the histogram for showing composite/visible or only currently selected layer/group, as well as displaying numeric info like average value. I do not trust my eyes for what looks good at the moment. I need something empirical to tell me how bright or dark something is.

(3) The Specific Color Selector docker needs an HSV or HSL model. Quite frankly, the RGB model (and all the others) is unintuitive. Long ago there was a color selector docker that had something like this, but right now the Artistic Color Selector docker is my favorite and very useful, but a picker that has simple HSV sliders is what I am looking for.

(4) Can we get the layer offset to update in real-time? I mean visually offset the layer while adjusting it and then commit. Right now it is like the histogram where some guessing is needed, undo, try again, and so on.

I would even be okay with a button in the histogram that forces it to update (though, live is obviously ideal). When it works, the histogram is great, but it's pretty unreliable. Likewise the histograms in each channel of the Color Adjustment Curves interface are nice, but without anything in the RGB curve interface, it's a little harder to use than it could be.

re: HSV colorpicking. It's weird that the HSV colorpicker has been such a source of trouble over the years now. The HSV controls in the "Select a Color" dialog that you get when clicking on your foreground or background color is still there and works fine even if it's a little annoying to get to.
