If I want to use the color picker to pick a color in an image, I often have to click so that the desired color is displayed. I find that unnecessary and time consuming. Is there a remedy?

With the Colour Selector Tool selected, in the Tool Options docker, is the Blend slider set to less that 100%?
If it is then you need to set it back to 100%.
