Hi there,

I've run into a problem with Krita that affected both versions 4.29 and 4.3 in Ubuntu 18.04, which happens when the distro package is installed via the Ubuntu Software manager but not when running an Appimage. The problem occurs in the "open" and "save as" dialog windows and takes the following form:

Image

Notice that the shortcut entries at the left side bar are greyed out, and the icons for the navigation buttons are not displayed. This makes navigation difficult to say the least.

So far, uninstalling and reinstalling the program yields no result, even after wiping the configuration files left in /home. Enabling native file dialog boxes does solve this particular problem - although it doesn't show any thumbnails, which upon further reading appears to be a recurring (and unsolved) issue in Ubuntu 18.04

Regardless of the Native File Dialog Boxes option, any idea of what might me happening to Krita's default file dialog boxes and how it could be fixed?

The problem is with the Qt Platform Plugin for GTK environments; all KDE/Qt based applications will have the same problem.
