Hi all!

I want to be able to delete a layer's contents without the layer I'm working on inheriting the contents from below. It's been a bit frustrating and limiting when I just want to quickly try something and delete it, or make a huge mistake on a layer. I've illustrated what happens below. Any help is appreciated! Thanks.

1. I have a grey background layer, and added a new layer on top.

2. I draw something on the new Layer.

3. I do Ctrl (cmd) + A to select all, then Backspace to delete. Now my alpha is gone and the layer somehow inherited the background color.

The 'backspace' key is the standard shortcut for Fill With Background Colour. You need to use the 'delete key' which is the shortcut for the Clear function.
