I am new to Krita, and i've been having trouble with some of the displays....
the toolbar at the top (view, window, settings, etc.) is covered by the white bar at the top containing the Krita name and icon.
Also, on the left side, where the brush and tools are, it isn't completely shown...is this solvable? Is this normal? :-\

File, Edit, View, etc are the items on the Menu. The Toolbar is the line of icons and slider controls under that.
What you describe is not normal after an initial installation and default settings start-up.

Which version of krita are you using, where did you get it from and how did you 'install' it?
Which operating system are you using?
Have you made any configuration/settings changes to it since it was first installed?
What is the size/resolution of your monitor and what graphics card are you using?

Can you provide a link to a full screen screenshot (.png) of it after it's just started and showing this problem?

Hello,
I have a problem similar to the one described above (which kind of sounds like https://docs.krita.org/en/KritaFAQ.html?highlight=reset%20configuration#id18 on the Krita Manual FAQ)
I am running Windows 7 and Krita 4.3.0. I started about a month ago, Buying a Huion Tablet was a revelation and I got a second monitor so I could locate the dockers away from the canvas.
While moving things around I somehow ended up no longer having the Minimize/Restore Down/Exit buttons on the Krita window and the monitor with the main krita window does not show the taskbar unless I alt+tab away. Further after restarting with only one monitor connected (hoping the Krita window would have the minimize and exit buttons showing) the Main Krita window stopped being draggable to the correct monitor.
While trying to solve I ended up enabling the OpenGL bug which disables the menus and dropdowns to be unusable (mentioned in the same FAQ above).

I attempted the shift+ctrl+alt while starting Krita trick to reset Krita's config but no luck. Krita comes up minimized and when you switch to the Krita window ther is no reset confirmation screen.

I have tried a few things including uninstalling Krita and deleting the Krita config directory from User/appdata.

Reinstalling brings me back to the same crippled state: I cannot access the menu Settings command to even undo last mess up.

How do I actually get a clean fresh install of Krita so I can get back to drawing?

Any help will be appreciated
I will watch for a reply and also I will get back if I solve it and state what the solution was even if it turns out to be really simple.

@Odd Lemon:
Reinstalling won't do anything. It just replaces an installation of krita with the exact same installation of krita.
Every aspect of the look, feel and behaviour is determined by the configuration files and the contents of the resources folder.

If you're running Windows 7 then that can't be supported because Microsoft stopped all support in January this year and it's now regarded as obsolete.

The configuration files are in Local and are called 'krita{something}'.
The main one is called 'kritarc' and the display configuration is called 'kritadisplayrc'.
I suggest that you delete those two (you may or may not have some other minor ones which shouldn't affect this), which will set things back to default configuration.

Another thing you can try is to go to C:/Users/{username}/AppData/Roaming/krita and look for a file called krita4.xmlgui and delete it if it exists.

Thank you sir (I assume),

That did the trick.
I actually had 4 Kritarc files, two from this recent adventure (one renamed as .backup and two in /roaming from 2013 and 2014 respectively.
I had forgotten that I played with early Krita.

Yes Windows 7 is not supported. I ran Windows 2000 on multiple systems with no OS support for years.
When I start having OS issues with Windows 7 I shall follow my sons into Linux based OSs.

I used to look at my prepped red hat discs every time I set up a new PC, and always ended up opting for the familiarity of Windows.
Now my house is about 50/50 so the flavors of Linux are also becoming familiar.
As I age I am either becoming braver or more reckless.

I appreciate your clear help.

@OddLemon:
I'm glad that you got it working but the fact that it got into this situation in the first place is a concern.
Any problems with krita running on Windows 7 can't be investigated and the current and future versions of krita can't be built to be suitable for Windows 7.
The next version, 4.4.0, will be released fairly soon and nobody can say that it will work ok with Windows 7.

Anyway, now it is working then I suggest that you make a backup copy of the entire resources folder and all the configuration files for future restoration in case of problems. Also make fresh backup copies whenever you make changes to the configuration or create/load new resources such as brush bundles, new brushes, etc.

Personally, I'd recommend that you go with Linux Mint with the MATE desktop environment and use the krita appimage. I'm sure your sons will be able to help you along whatever path you choose.
