Krita 4.4.0 Appimage doesn`t start.

Tue Oct 20, 2020 6:33 pm
Hello community.

Krita 4.4.0 appimage doesn`t start, previous versions till 4.3.0 works perfectly. I`m using linux 18.3 with kernel 4.10.0-38. Older versions are not longer supported, or maybe the problem is elsewhere? Thank you in advance for your help.

You don't mention any system information messages so I assume you remembered to give the appimage file Execute permissions.
What happens if you try to run it from a terminal open in the same folder using ./krita-4.4.0-x86_64.appimage ?

Yes i give exe permission. When i run it from terminal it says: ./krita-4.4.0-x86_64.appimage: /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libz.so.1: version `ZLIB_1.2.9' not found (required by /tmp/.mount_krita-tXkKp1/usr/bin/../lib/libpng16.so.16)

This has been reported recently for Linux Mint 18.3 with zlib 1.2.9 being required:
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=426249

You probably have zlib 1.2.8 installed. Can you use Synaptic to check that?

If this is because you haven't updated your system then you can try doing a full update and then check which version is then installed.

If Linux Mint haven't kept the repositories up to date then you have a problem. LM 18.3 is still in LTS but it will not be supported after April 2021.
Krita appimages run on Ubuntu 20.4 with no problem so Linux Mint 20 should be ok and that has support until the year 2025.
If you can't fix it via a system update, I suggest that you upgrade your system to LM 20.

So, as I thought, I had old repositories. Thanks a lot.

edit:
I installed Linux Mint 20 and Krita 4.4.0 works fine. Problem solved.
