Krita 4.2.7.1 (and 4.4.1)
Wacom Intuos Pro (small)
Ubuntu 20.04 (5.4.0-58-generic) + Nvidia drivers 450.80.02

When I use my pen/tablet the pop-up color and brush selector doesn’t work properly. When I click a color or brush, the pop-up disappears immediately, but doesn’t register the new color or brush, even though next time I pop-up, the widget remembers the color I picked? Doesn't seem like a tablet problem if the krita popup knows where I clicked, it's just not changing the color to match! And also the immediate closing of the popup is a problem.

When I select with my pen, the forground/background color icons don’t change, neither does the advanced color selector. They both change when I use my mouse. When I use my mouse (right click) it works as expected.

Here's a gif showing the bad behaviour, and then the good behaviour at the end when using a mouse:

It appears that my pen button works properly if I click it really fast, in that case it acts like my mouse right click. However I can hold my mouse right click down for a bit and the pop-up still stays, however if I hold my pen "right-click" button down for more than a fraction of a second, the popup dissappears as soon as I let go of the right click!

Yeah, bug in Qt... Use the appimage instead, it has a fix for that.

FYI, the appimage now seems to be giving me greater problems with menu items dissappearing and stuff just not working all over the place:

Menu items not having text is always a problem with a krita4.xmlgui file with a wrong version number being picked up. It's a bug in xmlgui, but it's pretty much unfixable.

Is there a temporary fix that can do when it occurs?

No, you need to find the conflicting krita4.xmlgui file and remove it.

Thanks! Any idea where I can find that file on Ubuntu? My search is coming up with nothing.
Code: Select all
$ sudo find / -type f -name krita4.xmlgui
find: ‘/tmp/.mount_krita-1EOPXu’: Permission denied
find: ‘/run/user/16002/gvfs’: Permission denied
find: ‘/run/user/129/gvfs’: Permission denied
