Sampling from current layer color picker option

Is it not supposed to work with brushes that have pressure sensitivity on opacity? I tried blending on a multiply layer, so I had to pick different colors, but it only seems to pick the original color, not the lower opacity ones. Is that normal?

The color picker doesn't pick opacity, that's by design.
